The Iligan City Government organized a yearly lechon contest called the Pista sa Lechon de Iligan. It was held on September 22, 2016, 3:00 in the afternoon at the Anahaw Amphitheater.
The group behind the event generously gave out free tickets to 500 Iliganons to eat the lechons.
This year has 8 participants, but initially there were only 3, this after they were disappointed with the controversy that tainted the contest during the previous city administration.
The following are the participants:

The mechanics and criteria of the lechon contest:

Physical appearance | -20% |
Total | – 100% |
– All entries should be between 25 to 30 kilos to ensure uniformity in appearance.
– Should have a business registration and permit.
The judges preparing before the start of contest proper.
After several minutes of tasting and computations, the winners of this year’s best-tasting lechon in Iligan City are Peping’s Lechon Haus (formerly Dado’s Lechon) as the best or first place winner, Elvi’s Lechon and Amalia’s Lechon Haus got the second and third place respectively.
My personal bet Edi’s Spicy Lechon didn’t get a place, sadly.
Congratulations to Peping’s Lechon and the other winners, although all the winners’ prizes were certificate of recognition, I’m sure it will give enough boost for their business’s exposure.
