The One for Iligan volunteers composed of concerned Iliganons and Iligan Bloggers, Inc. went to Purok 9A in Bayug in the morning and to Proper Hinaplanon in the afternoon to give out free medical services, food and clothing for Sendong affected residents in the mentioned areas.

Congrats to Iligan Bloggers Society on a job well done.
I monitored the affects of Sendong from the moment the first raindrops fell as I was in chat with a friend who lived in one of the totally destroyed sections of Orchid Homes. My friend commented that the rain was coming down so heavy on the metal roof that he could not sleep. That noise ended up saving my friends life as when the water approached being waist deep my friend climbed to the roof. Most of the house eventually washed away leaving a corner and just enough of the roof to stand on.
Shortly after sunrise as the water level began to go down, my friend and other rooftop survivors were able to walk away to safer ground, leaving just about everything they owned behind, that had not been washed away during the height of the flood.
As I spent many hours monitoring the situation on the internet from where I live on the other side of the world, it appeared to me that Iligan Bloggers Society Inc. was First in establishing a fast, easy and cost effective way for people from all over the world to make a donation. The end result of this has been quite impressive.
IBS I believe originated the theme ” One For Iligan “. A logo was designed for this theme by students at MSU-IIT and put to immediate use by IBS. This logo gained such an instant popularity it was nearly instantly adopted by many non-related to IBS organizations and volunteer groups.
IBS created their own local network for temporary storage, distribution and even preparation of food. Telecom companies donated no cost ” Load ” to IBS members to keep communications between members and others going without interruption. Things like this enabled IBS to insure that 100 Per Cent of ALL Donated funds would go to the relief effort with none of the donation money being used for any administrative or overhead costs.
Land and airborne transport were provided to IBS by the Military which enabled IBS to bring food and other relief items to those in areas that otherwise were cut off and isolated due to Sendong.
All of this and much more indicates to me that Iligan Bloggers Society Inc. has proven themselves to be a very worthwhile and community minded organization involved in a lot more than just blogging on the internet. Their Instant Mobilization of a truly worthwhile relief effort for the results of Tropical Storm Sendong far exceded any other similar relief effort I was able to read about via internet. Certainly there have been many other organizations, individuals and governments from all over the world that in one way or another responded to the call of need for Iligan and cagayan De Oro and other nearby areas affected by Sendong but in my expereince in following this on the internet from the start, IBS was there First in so many ways !
